I stopped by Walgreens on the way home from work this week. I needed to grab a few items, and I didn’t want to make a long, ⏰time-sucking run to the big grocery store. After a hectic day of work with nothing on the evening’s agenda (😮gasp!!), I just wanted to get🏠home. 
I moved throughout the store- checking my list as I filled the basket. Shampoo. Gum. Toothpaste. While I was comparing some different moisturizer brands in the beauty aisle, a tiny woman pushed her cart near me. She said nothing as she opened a green vinyl folder that was perched on the top of the cart and thumbed through the various pouches. I didn’t really pay any attention to her- except to make sure that I wasn’t blocking her views of the shelves. She looked at several carefully cut and organized coupons before gently tapping me on the arm. With limited English, she handed four different coupons to me and said that she would like for me to have them. As I tried to thank her, she barely met my gaze. She did take note of another item in my basket and pulled out another coupon- handing it to me as she pointed to my basket. She timidly smiled and went on with her shopping. My very own Coupon😇 Angel!
The chance encounter saved me $10! 💰That sweet lady had never seen me before and will probably never see me again. Yet, she found a way for us to connect. 💞She wanted to share the wealth of her coupons with me. A complete stranger chose to share something of herself with me. She asked for nothing in return as she walked to another part of the store without so much as looking back at me. Who knows- she may have found another shopper to share her coupons with! 🎁
Why did she do it? I think I know the answer. I believe that my Walgreens friend practices a rule that we all learned way back in kindergarten. She understands that it is better to give than receive.💖
Self-Care Sunday tip- think about those things you have to give. We all have something to offer. Maybe it’s just coupons and a shy smile. ☺️Isn’t that enough, though? Go ahead- share! I bet you’ll find that you get back far more than you gave.❤️
