Setting Sail

I’ve been 🤔thinking a lot about where I want to be in life lately. It’s not that I’m disappointed or frustrated with my life. Quite the contrary. 😍I love my journey. Sure- it has been filled with hills and valleys, like everyone else. But, I’ve also had experiences that taught me important lessons. ✨I’ve met people who brought a little sorrow but much more joy. ✨I’ve been to places that changed my perspective. ✨This recent line of thought stems more from a place of wanting to continue personal growth. ⬆️

Since I officially retired from the 📚classroom last school year, I get a lot of comments about relaxation. 😴I get it. Many people hear the word retirement and equate it with another word-stop. 🛑That’s not how I see it, though. I taught enough years to be eligible for my educational pension. However, I could not draw that while continuing to teach. Retirement simply means change to me. 👍🏻It means shifting gears. 👍🏻It means new experiences and new people.👍🏻 It means growth.👍🏻

I’m still trying to figure it all out. This time in life provides space for making transitions, and it’s exhilarating. 🥳I’m at the exploration phase of this new journey. Testing the 💦waters, you might say. I’m venturing beyond my comfort zone to learn some new things about myself and expand my horizons.💥

I found a quote that resonates with this time in my life.

“A ship in harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.”  ~John A. Shedd

I’ve been safe in the harbor for quite a long time. It’s time to ⛵️sail. Maybe that means a whole new career. ✨Maybe that means different locations. ✨Hopefully, it means a whole bunch of interesting people! ✨For now, it’s all about exploration. 🎉And, you know what that means, right? This⛵️ boat needs to leave the proverbial safe harbor! I’m fortunate to have a supportive husband and family cheering for me as I find my way.

How about you? Is it time for you to set sail?💖
