We’re Not Better

I’ve written about the Golden Rule before. It’s not that difficult to treat others as you would like to be treated. πŸ‘πŸ»Am I wrong? Because ⏰ time and time again, I learn about ugly ways my fellow humans interact with others. πŸ˜”

There was a mixup at the 🐢 vet recently. We were charged for a product we didn’t receive. When I called, they said to stop by for a replacement. They were out of the original item, so it had to be a different brand. No big deal. When I went to pick it up, the person helping me couldn’t take the previous πŸ’΅ charge off my account, so we had to do that later. Minor inconvenience. I waited a few days to return, allowing the office staff time to figure out the details. I explained the issue, reminding them about the πŸ’° refund. Do you know what I was told?

Thank you for not yelling at our office staff.😳

Thank you for being nice about this.😳

We appreciate that you explained things clearly and didn’t yell at us.😳

There’s that word again– yell. Who yells at the office staff for a simple mixup with a product and refund? πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

So, I asked that question and was surprised at the response. One staffer had already been yelled at three times, and it wasn’t even noon.❗️This office is full of hard-working, helpful people. We talked some more about things like feeling ☠️ unsafe in the workplace and needing to stay aware of 😈 reactions and surroundings in public places.

Our conversation reminded me of the videos all over social media. You know the ones I’m talking about. 🀑 Someone shows their true colors when the situation calls for no response or maybe a little πŸ’•kindness and empathy.

Can I tell you what I πŸ‘€ see in those videos and when I’m unlucky enough to be a spectator in person? Arrogance.

Sure, there’s also disrespect, defiance, entitlement, bullying, rudeness, and manipulation. But all of that stems from arrogance. Those people feel the need to exaggerate their worth at the expense of others.πŸ’”

It’s out of control, friends. We need to take a collective look in the πŸͺž mirror. We’re not better. ❌ Notice that I stopped the sentence there. No need for better than…

We’re not better. ❌ It’s way past time for humility and grace. πŸ’–
