I’m not someone who sets a specific New Year’s resolution. I know myself. I’m not the person who will stick to one goal for an entire year. It’s easier to think about adjustments and shifts to my routine. Maybe adding some new things or just restructuring old ones. It’s more about an ever-evolving process of growth.
I’ve always liked the idea of choosing one word to add a little focus to the year. This seems less stressful than a resolution with a beginning and an end. One word is more like a steering wheel. I can keep my hands on the wheel, but I still get to decide where to turn.
The word for my 2025 is boundaries. The people pleaser in me needs the guidance that this word offers. I get wrapped up in guilt that isn’t necessary because I think I have to be all things to all people at all times. Anyone else? It’s a lot to carry, and I don’t have to do that. No one expects me to do that. It’s me and my worry. But I know my priorities are in the right places. I have a good heart and common sense. I listen, and I don’t judge. It’s time for me to learn how to set boundaries. I don’t have to carry it all.
I’ve also been thinking about ways to kickstart 2025. No need to completely turn life upside down to reach these goals. I plan to make these simple resolutions become routines.
- Learn a new skill — haven’t decided yet, but learning is high on my list.
- Prioritize health goals.
- Practice gratitude.
- Connect with people.
- Spend more time with family and friends.
- Declutter.
- Practice random acts of kindness.
- Drink more water.
- Send more handwritten notes and cards.
- Get creative!
Cheers to 2025! It’s going to be an incredible year!

Praise the Lord 🙏🙏🙏
