Turn a Holiday Cookie Party into a Card and Cookie Party

Turn a Holiday Cookie Party into a Card and Cookie Party

Aren’t we all looking for excuses to host friends and family? “Tis the season, after all! Here’s a little twist on the traditional holiday party ideas. Invite everyone to get creative with a Card and Cookie Party.

Holiday cookie party alternatives

Holiday cookie exchange parties are solid options. What about taking that idea and adding a couple of fun and easy craft projects? Put on your favorite holiday party outfit, and let the festivities begin.

Start with cookie decorating

Before the party, bake simple sugar cookies or gingerbread people or ask others to bring undecorated cookies. Provide an array of goodies for decorating the cookies – from frosting to sprinkles and small candies. Friends can contribute decorating supplies for even more deliciousness! Don’t worry about saving all of the cookies to take home. Enjoy some goodies while you work on the greeting card designs.

What about the cards?

There are a couple of ways you could go with this. Maybe you want to design greeting cards that partygoers can send to someone special. It’s also a great time of year to customize thank you cards to send after the holiday season.

How do you design your cards?

Customizing greeting cards with choices from Word Sunshine make for an easy craft with paper. Our 5 X 7 blank greeting cards with envelopes – sunshine yellow, of course – are made from 100 lb cardstock in white with a smooth surface. That’s the perfect space for you to design your own card, featuring words in black ink on the front and plenty of space for personal notes and/or artwork inside.

Think about the greeting card category for your party. Browse the Feels LIke Sunshine choices for fun cards to send ‘just because.’ If you want to get a head start on holiday thank you cards, take a look at the Attitude of Gratitude cards. Make sure to order a card – or two!– for everyone in advance.

Custom greeting cards

Setting up the supplies for your greeting card station will be a lot like the one you created for the cookie decorating one. Make sure your guests have space to be creative. Here are some possible supplies to have available:

  • Colored pencils
  • Crayons
  • Markers
  • Pens with different colors of ink
  • Pencils
  • Watercolors (don’t forget small cups for water and towels)
  • Stickers

(Pro tip – avoid oil-based markers, paint pens, or paints)

No need to stress about holiday party food or activity. Hosting a Card and Cookie Party takes care of both! Cheers to a new twist on the old holiday cookie exchange.
